Affiliate Disclosure
How Tunnelgauge makes money — and where it makes none. Affiliate links are labelled, a commission never changes a score, and two top picks pay us nothing.
Tunnelgauge is reader-focused and partly affiliate-funded, and we would rather over-explain that than hide it. This page sets out exactly how we make money and, just as importantly, where we make none. It was last reviewed on 2026-09-10.
How affiliate links work here
Some links to VPN providers are affiliate links. Every one of them is routed through a /go/ address on this site and is disclosed near where it appears. If you click one and then buy a subscription, the provider pays us a commission at no extra cost to you — the price you pay is the same whether you use our link or type the provider's address directly.
A commission never changes a score
This is the rule the whole site depends on. Each provider's Gauge Score is computed from the published pillar table — privacy, security, value, features, transparency — before any commercial relationship is considered. We do not accept payment for placement, we do not run sponsored reviews, and no provider sees a review before it is published. If a higher-paying provider scores lower, it ranks lower.
The providers that pay us nothing
Two providers we frequently recommend — Mullvad and Windscribe — run no affiliate program, so we earn nothing when you choose them. We name them anyway, because on the evidence they earn it, and because recommending the products that pay us nothing is the clearest proof we can offer that the score comes first.
Prices and accuracy
VPN pricing changes constantly and depends on region, plan length and current promotions. The prices on this site are the lowest advertised long-term rates on the read-date shown, and we always tell you to confirm the current price on the provider's own page before buying. If you spot a stale figure, email [email protected] and we will re-date it.
